Webster Technique in the care of pregnant women, misalignment of the sacrum may contribute to difficult labor (dystocia) for the mother. Dystocia is caused by inadequate uterus function, pelvic contractions, and baby mal-presentation. Sacral misalignment may interfere with nerve transmission to the uterus, cause pelvic misalignment and the tightening and torsion of specific pelvic muscles and ligaments. These can have a negative effect on the uterus and may prevent the baby from comfortably assuming the best possible position for birth. The correction of sacral misalignment may have a positive effect on all of these causes of dystocia.
